The Impact of Regulations & Risks, of Compliancy & Standards: GRC in reality by Erik Valgaeren, Lawyer/Partner, Stibbe
Datacenters can greatly contribute to efficiency and synergies. However, they do not operate in a legal and regulatory vacuum. The selection of the country in which the data center is set up, the choice of the data center provider and the data management policies which are to be applied in the data center are all subject to various legal and regulatory requirements. In this session, Erik Valgaeren, ICT law expert at Stibbe, will set the stage of what is a stake and how to deal with these issues.

Rittal – Optimized Cooling Solutions for a maximum of Energy Efficiency. By Koen Goossens, Account Manager, Rittal
Because of the increasing density of the applications in datacenters, there is also an increasing need of cooling of these applications. The challenge is to realize this in the most efficient way to guarantee continuity of the processes but also to minimize the energy consumption and therefore to reduce the total cost of ownership.

The NEXT Generation Optimised Multifibre Array Connection System for high bit rate Data Centre
by Frans Van Geijn, Product Manager, Tyco Electronics
The result of the evoltution of the applicationspeed in Ethernet and Fiber channels is a reduction of channel attenuation budget. Where the power budget of 10 Base FL was 12.5dB some years ago, today we must meet for 10 G Base SR a channel loss of 2.6dB. The channel budget for 40 and 100Gbase SR will only be 1.5dB with a 1.0 dB left over for connectors. This requires low loss high quality Fiber Optic connections. The standard ISO 11801 connectors do not meet these new requirements. The Tyco Electronics MPOptimate system does provide the solution for today 10 G Base applications and does offer migration solutions for tommorow’s 40 and 100 G Base and 4-8 and 16 G Fiber Channel requirements.

Emerson Network Power monitoring & infrastructure management
by Diego Chisena, Monitoring Product Manager, Emerson Network Power
After a brief company introduction during which I will explain the core competence of Emerson Network Power, we will talk about how to manage the Datacenter complexity. Then we’ll talk about the Monitoring solutions including Monitoring the IT asset and the Building Management. We will talk about how to fill the gap between building/facility management and IT management introducing the future Datacenter management platform called Trellis. We will then we conclude with key take aways.

Dynamic UPS technologies with a case study of the Belgacom Datacenter
by Yves Jansen, Area sales Manager, Euro–Diesel
It has been a necessity for Data Centres to be equipped with UPS for securing and protecting its critical equipments from mains perturbations. The Diesel Rotary UPS (DRUPS), in particular the NO–BREAK, is very popular in the Data Centres worldwide because of its advantages compared to other existing technologies.
The NO–BREAK is a simple system, therefore, very reliable. It may look like a conventional diesel generator–set at a glance but works wholly as a UPS system!
Learn and be informed on what NO–BREAK KS systems can do for your Data Centres:
- How to save operation costs every year, and also in the long run, through the choice of a performing UPS system.
- How to reduce your Data Centre investment cost at the design stage.
- Why you will be environment friendlier.
- What kinds of configurations available to integrate (different electrical single-lines) to your Data Centre.
Examples of single–lines will be presented and illustrated with excerpts from the installation works in the different sites of Belgacom Data Centres.

Schneider Electric Announces EcoBreeze™, the First Air Economizer Cooling Solution that Keeps Outside Air Out of the Data Center
by Ben De Clercq, Country Sales Manager APC by Schneider Electric
As datacenters are constantly expanding and local energy companies place heavy restrictions on a data center’s ability to pull more power from the grid, there is an urgent need to reduce power consumption through energy efficiency and economization. The EcoBreeze addresses the needs of today’s data center’s by implementing multiple forms of economization into each module. The unit, located outside the perimeter of the data center, takes advantage of localized climates and can automatically switch between two forms of economized cooling.

How to improve Datacenter Efficiency through integrated Management Solutions
by Phil Searchfield, Technical Consultant, Minkels
In the demanding environment of today’s (and tomorrows) data centres, Uptime and Efficiency are key operational requirements. More than ever, and with the increasing likelihood of governmental legislation, it is necessary to monitor, control and report energy consumption. Monitoring and controlling vital parameters of the information technology installation help to optimize OPEX.
Individual systems provide and control cooling capacity, and measure factors like humidity, temperature and energy consumption at local level in the datacenter. This makes the management of your datacenter complex. Minkels introduces and discusses an integrated approach to datacenter management, in which the necessary local intelligence of individual systems (such as Building Management, electrical monitoring and control and rack-based monitoring and control) is combined into a single management platform.
Minkels build on their extensive experience in the field of datacenter infrastructure, with the specific needs of datacenter managers as the starting point and result.
